Yoga on your Cancer Journey
Wellspring Alberta

No one should have to face cancer alone.

Wellspring Calgary has been building a supportive cancer community since 2007, inspiring strength and hope. I am now teaching at both houses and online with this incredible community and would love to share practice with you. Both spaces are welcoming, full of love and so very special inside and out.

The programs offered are for those anywhere on their cancer journey and also for their primary caregiver.
The classes below are all taught through Wellspring.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

Wednesdays at Randy O'Dell
9:45-11 am

Restorative yoga is a gentle, healing, therapeutic, medically-based practice of relaxation and renewal. The poses require little effort, allowing the body’s parasympathetic nervous system to be stimulated, thus restoring the body’s balance and calming the sympathetic nervous system. As the body returns to its natural state of balance and harmony, energy is replenished, stress is diminished and the potential for healing is optimized.

FUNCTIONAL YOGA & NIDRA

Thursdays On-Line
9:30-10:45 am

This is a subtle blend of slow relaxing movement and breath work, building toward more active poses that increase functional movement and improve mobility and stability.
We close with a 25 min yoga nidra, a guided meditation done lying down, equivalent to 4-5 hours of sleep & deep relaxation.

MINDFUL MOVEMENT & DEEP REST

Fridays at Carma House
7:30-8:30 am

We will run through the end of June for this class and then take a break for July and August.

Movement becomes meditation. Turn inward release tension, connect to strength, get curious and play through our body’s changing needs.
We will open with a few minutes to ground and centre and then ease into the movement for about 35 minutes, making it to standing for a final pose.
We will close each class with 15-20 minutes of restorative yoga.
